$24 · Pink HillTribe Dress - Child

Pink HillTribe Dress - Child image 1

My Grand Daughter is in this photo taken right after chocolate ice cream. She loves this dress and wants to wear it every day. Mom says on some days we must wash it. They wait until Saturday and my granddaughter stays in her PJs until the dress is dry. By the way those little shoes she won't take off either. They too are from Thailand and worn out. They have broken actually but they squeak. And she loves the squeak. This dress is made by the Karens, pronounced (Ka-Rans), who are an indigenous people to the southeast Asian countries of Thailand and Burma. The name 'Karen' has become almost synonymous with 'Weaver', so outstanding are the products of Karen looms. Their unusual embroidery and needlework make for widely varied types of clothing. Often the specific pattern reflects specific groups and families coming under the general heading of 'Karen'. Almost like a Coat-of-Arms. Originally all clothing was made of homespun cotton cloth. Even now many mountain-dwelling Karen still spins thread from their own cotton. Weaving is done on simple back-strap looms using a single warp technique. This dress is sized for children based on age. Ages 1-8 years are available. We will also soon have Adult versions available. Please select the appropriate age. If your child is bigger than average g up a year. Please feel free before or after your purchase to contact me with questions or details. Also, other colors will become available and can be obtained if you have a preference.
