Position: COMMUNITY SAFETY OFFICER I The Town of Smithers is currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Community Safety Officer I ($35.72). This is a full-time unionized position with CUPE. Qualifications for a Community Safety Officer I include a post-secondary education in criminology or previous experience as a Peace or R.C.M.P Officer; courses in bylaw enforcement (Justice Institute of BC Bylaw Compliance, Enforcement and Investigative Skills Program), animal control, community policing and crime prevention. The incumbent must pass an Enhanced RCMP Security Clearance; have a minimum of 2 years' related experience in policy, bylaw, crime prevention, community policing work, or an equivalent combination of knowledge, training and experience in other investigative fields.
